When to climb Mount Kilimanjaro

The best time and month to climb mount kilimanjaro tends to be January, February and September, when the weather is warm, the sky is visible and the risk of rain is minimal. June, July, and august are also favorable though its cold season/winter in Tanzania.

March, June, November or December are rainy seasons making it tougher to climb but with proper preparation one can summit to the top.

THE FULL MOON: Targeting the climb mount kilimanjaro during the full moon period is an interesting choice, as during the nights the visibility improves and the moon dangling directly above makes for a spectacular moment when you’re standing on top of the roof of Africa.

Weather on Mount Kilimanjaro

Standing in an elevation of 5,785 meters above sea level, Mount Kilimanjaro is 60 km in width (mount kilimanjaro is thick yo! that makes it sexy to climb.) and 100 km in length with its own beautiful zonal vegetation. Climatic conditions on Kilimanjaro varies with attitude, from a tropical climate to artic conditions at the summit.

The foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro enjoy summer annually, temperature ranges from 25 to 30C yearlong. At the top temperatures ranges from -10 to -25C. In general, every 200meters you climb temperature drops by 1C.

mount kilimanjaro experiences two wet seasons, the long monsoon rains between March and May, and the short rainy season which starts in the middle of October to the end of December. Kilimanjaro base experiences 2000mm of rain compared to 100mm of rain at top(summit).

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive at the Kilimanjaro international Airport.

Arrive at the Kilimanjaro international Airport. You will be meet at the Airport and transferred to the Hotel in Moshi or Arusha or any hotel for your overnight. for your mount kilimanjaro climb

Day 2 MARANGU ROUTE (MANDARA HUT)

Following breakfast at your hotel then drive 1hour to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of mount kilimanjaro register with national park and begin Hiking at 10:30 Am. In the rain forest, look for towering eucalyptus trees, bird life and colobus monkeys at the lower elevations it can be wet and muddy. So gaiters and trekking poles will help short and t -shirts should be sufficient, rain gear and warmer clothing handy. Stop halfway for lunch and reach the Mandara huts at 6 or 7pm. Unpack rest and have some tea or coffee. A 15 minutes side trip to Maundi crater is a good way to see the surroundings including northern Tanzania and Kenya. Dinner is served during the early evening at 7pm. Bathroom water are available rest and wait for another day of mount kilimanjaro

Day 3MARANGU ROUTE (MANDARA TO HOROMBO HUT)

Wake to 7:30 am breakfast and pack for your next trek. Break camp by 8:30am, like for an hour through rain forest glades, then follow an ascending path through heath land where you can look for giant lobelians and groundsels continue up to open moorland where small shrub are the main vegetation. Stop halfway for lunch, where you can enjoy amazing views of Mawenzi. Arrive at the Horombo huts by 3pm, where you can see Mawenziand Kibo’s summits Rest, unpack, and prepare for dinner. waiting another day of mount kilimanjaro climb

Day 4MARANGU ROUTE (HOROMBO HUT FULL BOARD)

Today we walk mount kilimanjaro to the mawenzi hut by passing the zebra rocks, this extra day and night at horombo is for additional acclimatization. We recommend drinking of water and walk slowly all mills for day are provided to horombo hut. and wait for another day of mount kilimanjaro climb

Day 5(HOROMBO HUT TO KIBO HUT) Base camp

We take mount kilimanjaro climb Kibo hut. It’s a very gradual toward the lunar desert of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. This seeks to seven hours walking will be taken at slow pace until we reach Kibo hut where we will spend the night in a comfortable hut. There is no running water at Kibo hut. The remainder of the day is spend relaxing in preparation for the final ascending before very early night.

Day 6 MARANGU ROUTE (SUMMIT TO HOROMBO)

Woke up before midnight in the curve of darkness. We begin a steep mount kilimanjaro climbing over loose volcanic scree has some well graded zigzag and a slow but steed pace will take us to rim of the main crater, gilmans5685M. We will rest there for few minutes to enjoy the sunrise over Mawenzi. Those who are steel feeling good can continue to mount kilimanjaro climb slowly to make the three hours round trip from here along the catering to uhuru peak 5895M which is the highest point in Africa, after a few minutes to appreciate your accomplishment, we descend to Kibo hut is amazingly fast and we stop at kibo hut for some refreshment we continue to descend to reach horombo hut.

END OF THE TOUR DECEND ALL THE WAY TO THE HOTEL

Today we will walk descend past mandara hut to marangu national park gate. Successful climbers will receive their summit certificates. From here you will be transferred to your hotel.
